3rd Person, Dual POV
Hero: Hockey Player, ex-Military
They knew each other when the Hero served alongside the Heroine’s dead Husband.
Not quite a second chance romance, but the Hero has pined for the Heroine for FOREVER
Pros: Lots of unresolved sexual tension, it’s not a second chance Romance, more like missed opportunity.
So happy to be revisiting this group of people and their timelines. There’s even an easter egg for the firefighters series.
I loved the heroine and her need to get what she wanted and deserved from life.
It feels like Kate has re-hit her stride with this book and I’m excited for the sequel bait!
Cons: Journalism ethics would have prevented our heroine touching this story with a barge pole.

Fifth Book in her excellent “Chicago Rebels” series, (including the 2 novellas).
Single Dad who’s a recovering alcoholic Hero. Breast Cancer Survivor, result of an affair trying to find her place in her new family & the world Heroine.
3rd Person alternating POV.
Favourite description of a hero EVER! “Kind of like, if Jason Momoa and Gerard Butler had gotten down and dirty and sweated out a big-shouldered beast-child.”

Two grownups struggling with choosing to do the best thing for themselves.
Finn’s broken ankle needs several weeks of physical therapy to be in with a fighting chance of starting the Hockey season. He’s struggling to do what the PT is asking of him and not go at 1000 mph.
Sophia wants more for her life than working at her Family owned and run restaurant. After getting her dream job as a Physical Therapist’s Assistant, she’s struggling to say no to helping out at the restaurant in down time.
This is a sweet story with witty banter and great secondary characters. The push/pull of wanting something desperately for yourself and not being sure of how to get it without letting other people down is something we can all resonate with.

Book 3 in the Chicago Rebels (Hockey Romance) series. Openly gay GM Dante and firmly closeted Cade embark on a forbidden romance. Boss/Employee, Out/closeted & age gap means this is a relationship that can only happen behind closed doors, until all those pesky feelings get in the way. Most of this book runs in parallel to book 2 in the series. Loved how the resolution was handled. Dante is one of my favourite Heroes this year. Oy, sooo hot. Really enjoying this series. If you like Sports Romance, this is definitely the series for you!

Stephanie Kay’s San Francisco Strikers series keeps on getting better.
Amanda, a feisty lifestyle reporter, stays in San Francisco after the death of her beloved grandfather. Ben, our hero, is a media adverse hockey player and the fireworks commence. Amanda was the driver in this relationship. She had no qualms in calling Ben out on his shit. It’s a shame she wasn’t as dominant in her workplace. Can’t wait to see where the rest of the series takes us.
